Hello!

I'm Jessica Williams (she/her) LCMHCA. You can call me Jess. I am a midwesterner living in the southeast. I received a bachelor's degree in education from Iowa State University and a master's in special education with a focus on autism from Concordia university in St. Paul, MN.  I am a life long learner, and after spending 8 years working in the public school system as a special education teacher, I decided to shift my focus to my true passion: mental health and advocacy. I ended up at East Carolina University, where I received a master's degree in clinical counseling with an emphasis in substance use. I now have the privilege of connecting with neurodivergent folx, from children to adulthood, as individuals, intimate partners and families. I walk alongside them as they navigate relationships, identity, and develop a strong sense of self. I would be honored to hear from you and I understand the vulnerability it takes to invite someone on your journey through life.

Counseling with Me

Through my experiences with my own mental health and self-discovery I unearthed a love of advocating for those who don't yet have the skills to advocate for themselves. As a mom and counselor, I live out my passion for helping others become healthy humans in a world that is often experienced as chaotic and messy. Our society expects us to "fit in" rather than adapting to systems and structures to include all people. Our hope is that Broken Things Farm is a place where all feel seen and welcome.

My first priority is to welcome clients without scrutiny or judgement.  I look at the whole person, and create space for authenticity, autonomy and self-advocacy. Through narrative therapy we will write, draw, and retell your story. I invite clients to examine the stories they tell themselves and ask "whose voice do you hear?". I use parts work, also known as Internal Family Systems (IFS), with the understanding that we are all incredibly complex beings. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a teaching tool to investigate inner thoughts or thought patterns that may be interfering with your health and growth journey.

I work with adolescents and adults on a variety of concerns such as self-discovery, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I have an extra special love for neurodivergent folx and their families. Together we can explore neurodivergence as you experience and define it, consider recurring issues or challenges, express frustration and loss and apply various tools and resources. As a divorcee and co-parent, My life experiences lend me to be a good for parents navigating the stresses that come with that, and coparenting. I am also an avid ally for the LGTBQIA+ community and welcome clients to individual and family therapy who are exploring their sexuality, coming out and processing their experience with their families and community.

They are a beautiful piece of broken pottery, put back together

by their own hands, and a critical world judges their cracks while

missing the beauty of how they made themselves whole again.
